Abortion & STDs
If you are considering an abortion, strongly consider being checked for an STD. Unknown or untreated infections in the body should be treated before any kind of abortion to prevent the spread of the infection to other parts of the body. The same is true and extremely critical in the case of abortion and STDs. Many times, STDs have no symptoms so testing and treatment is key.
- If an STD is left untreated it can lead to PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) and infections in other areas of the body. PID is an infection in the womb, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.
- If an STD is untreated and then an abortion is performed, the risk of spreading it to the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes is possible.
- PID if untreated could lead to infertility and increased chances of ectopic pregnancy in the future.
We test for three of the most common STDs which are Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Trichomoniasis. STD screening is a recommended step in our Abortion Information Consultation appointment. Make an appointment today if you are considering an abortion by calling 304-485-7113.
